Terms of Service

Effective date: March 31, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Stringbase, a cloud-based Translation Management System available at stringbase.io. By creating an account or using Stringbase in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Introduction

Stringbase is operated by CGL Software Łukasz Nawrocki, a sole proprietorship (jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza) registered in Poland (NIP: 7792359653, EU VAT: PL7792359653), located in Poznań, Poland.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the user) and CGL Software Łukasz Nawrocki. “You” refers to any individual or organization that accesses or uses Stringbase. “We”, “us”, or “our” refers to CGL Software Łukasz Nawrocki.

2. Service description

Stringbase is a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Translation Management System. It enables product teams to manage translation keys, generate AI-powered translations, run collaborative review workflows, maintain a brand glossary, and deliver translations to applications via a REST API and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The service is provided “as is” and is continuously evolving. We add new features, improve existing ones, and occasionally remove or change functionality. We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available in its current form. When we make significant changes, we will communicate them in advance where reasonably possible.

3. Accounts

To use Stringbase, you must provide a valid email address and create an account. You must be at least 16 years old. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

When you sign up, an organization is automatically created for you. You can invite team members to your organization, subject to the member limits of your plan. Your organization is the top-level container for all your projects, team members, and billing.

You are responsible for keeping your account secure. You must not share your account credentials or API keys with unauthorized parties. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, notify us at hello@stringbase.io immediately and revoke any API keys that may have been exposed. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Plans and billing

Stringbase offers a Free plan and a Team plan. The Free plan is available at no cost and includes usage limits as described on our pricing page. The Team plan is billed at $49/month, charged monthly in advance via Stripe. All prices are in US dollars (USD).

The Team plan renews automatically on a monthly basis until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. When you cancel, your access to Team plan features continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not issue refunds for unused portions of a billing month.

We may change our pricing with 30 days' written notice via email. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period. If you do not agree with a price change, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.

If a payment fails, we will notify you by email and make additional attempts to collect payment. If payment remains outstanding for 14 days, we may downgrade your organization to the Free plan until payment is resolved. Your data is not deleted due to payment failure.

5. Acceptable use

You may use Stringbase only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

Store, transmit, or manage content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, defamatory, or that infringes any intellectual property rights.

Abuse the Stringbase API with excessive automated requests that go beyond normal usage patterns, interfere with the service's stability, or circumvent published rate limits.

Attempt to circumvent plan limits, usage restrictions, or any security measures — including but not limited to attempting to access other organizations' data or reverse-engineering authentication mechanisms.

Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize access to Stringbase without our prior written consent.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation. We will generally provide notice and an opportunity to remedy violations before taking action, except in cases of serious or repeated misconduct.

6. Your content

You retain full ownership of all content you create within Stringbase — including translation keys, translation values, glossary terms, comments, and project data. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

By using Stringbase, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, display, and transmit your content solely as necessary to provide the service to you. This includes sending translation content to xAI's API when you request an AI translation (see Section 7). This license terminates when you delete the content or close your account.

We do not use your content for AI training.Your translation keys, translation values, and any other content in your account are not used to train any AI model — neither our own nor any third party's — beyond the real-time API call made at the time of translation.

You can export all your translation data at any time using the JSON export feature, the bulk export API endpoint, or by contacting us. When you delete content or your account, content is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

7. AI translation

Stringbase provides AI-powered translation via the xAI Grok API. AI translations are generated automatically based on your source text and are intended as a starting point, not a final product.

AI translations may contain errors. Machine translation is not perfect. Translations may be grammatically incorrect, contextually inappropriate, or inconsistent with your brand voice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all AI-generated translations before publishing them to production. We strongly recommend having a human review every translation before it is delivered to your users.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated translation. We are not liable for any consequences arising from publishing unreviewed AI translations, including but not limited to reputational damage, user confusion, or incorrect information being displayed to users.

AI translation availability depends on the availability of xAI's API. In the event of xAI service disruption, AI translation features may be temporarily unavailable. This does not affect your ability to manage translations manually.

8. API usage

API access is included in all Stringbase plans. You can generate API keys from your project settings. All API keys begin with the prefix sb_live_.

API keys are confidential credentials. You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure and must not expose them in client-side code, public repositories, or any other location where they could be accessed by unauthorized parties. If an API key is compromised, revoke it immediately from your project settings.

We apply rate limits to API requests to ensure service stability for all users. Normal usage (pushing and fetching translations as part of your development or deployment workflow) is well within these limits. Automated bulk operations that approach or exceed reasonable limits may be throttled or temporarily blocked.

9. Availability and support

We aim to keep Stringbase highly available, but we do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage or provide a Service Level Agreement (SLA) on the Free or Team plans. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, infrastructure issues, or events outside our control.

Support is available by email at hello@stringbase.io. We aim to respond within 2 business days. Support is provided in English and Polish.

10. Limitation of liability

Stringbase is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CGL Software Łukasz Nawrocki shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption — arising out of or in connection with your use of Stringbase, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability for any claims arising from or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10 USD. This limitation applies to all causes of action in the aggregate.

We are not responsible for: translation errors or their consequences; data loss resulting from events beyond our control; outages or failures of third-party services (Supabase, Vercel, xAI, Stripe); or unauthorized access to your account resulting from your failure to maintain adequate credentials security.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation. EU consumers retain all mandatory rights under applicable EU consumer protection law.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. This will cancel any active subscription at the end of the current billing period and schedule your data for deletion within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms. For most violations, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the breach before taking action. In cases of serious misconduct — including illegal activity, abuse of the service, or security threats — we may act immediately without prior notice.

On termination, your access to the service ends immediately (or at the end of the paid period for voluntary cancellations). Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, subject to the retention requirements described in our Privacy Policy (e.g., payment records retained for tax purposes).

The following sections survive termination of these Terms: Section 6 (Your content — ownership clauses), Section 10 (Limitation of liability), Section 12 (Intellectual property), and Section 13 (Governing law).

12. Intellectual property

The Stringbase name, logo, product design, user interface, and underlying software are the intellectual property of CGL Software Łukasz Nawrocki and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, create derivative works from, reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of any part of the Stringbase platform.

Stringbase is built using open-source software components. These components are subject to their respective open-source licenses, which are not affected by these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Poland, including applicable European Union regulations such as the GDPR. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Stringbase that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Poznań, Poland.

If you are an EU consumer, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection provisions that apply under the laws of your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by contract. The choice of Polish law does not deprive you of such protections.

The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform for EU consumers at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes — such as changes to payment terms, liability limitations, or acceptable use — we will notify you by email with at least 30 days' notice before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated.

If you continue to use Stringbase after the changes take effect, you are agreeing to the updated Terms. If you do not agree with material changes, you may terminate your account before they take effect.
